Interférence(s) : Out/Side
In cooperation with the Rennes libraries and le Triangle – Cité de la Danse
Born in the streets and yards of Jamaica, dancehall is a dance of resistance and collective affirmation, rooted in Caribbean heritage and carried by communities who made the body a space of freedom and political expression. Rhythm, attitude, relationship to the ground and to space: it has its own codes, its own history, its own way of inhabiting the world.
As part of this Interférence(s), Mwendwa Marchand brings her creation Out/Side for an afternoon in several stages across the spaces of le Triangle: an introductory workshop, a snack, and a performative journey from the Halle to the library, followed by a discussion on the representation of this culture on institutional stages.
