Locking was born in the early 1970s in Los Angeles, carried by Don Campbell and the Lockers. The funk dance par excellence, it’s recognised by its sudden stops, held poses and visceral relationship to the music. No locking without groove, no groove without intention.
For Focus Funk, Engrenage[s] and Les Ratz organise EOV* — a 100% locking battle putting authenticity and originality centre stage. The format: a selection cypher at 2.30pm in front of three expert judges. Six finalists then join the Vortex for 1 to 1 face-offs from 4pm. Funk, precision, character: every round is a statement.
