Gentlewoman – Paradox-Sal

Gentlewoman is the first piece Paradox-Sal signs in their own voice. Eight dancers, powerful figures of house dance, take the stage to explore the bonds that unite them: between collective strength and individual affirmations, between solos and ensemble tableaux, between improvisation and choreographic writing.
The piece follows on from the work carried out with Ousmane Sy, while asserting something that didn’t exist yet: their own narrative. Gentlewoman deconstructs preconceptions about dynamics between women and claims the right to tell their story with sincerity. The principle is simple and powerful: no one can tell their story better than they can themselves.
