Stuck – Mounia Nassangar

Mounia Nassangar’s first choreographic piece, STUCK explores dance’s ability to take over from a failing voice, when words remain stuck. A subject that resonates directly with the history of whacking: a dance of urgency, born from oppression, carried since its origins by bodies that society wanted to silence.
The five performers on stage each give their own version of this history, drawing on different bodies and trajectories. Together, they reveal this culture from a subjective and sensitive angle.
Created in June 2024 in Rennes with an all-female quintet, the piece is presented here in an unprecedented version with five male performers: Rémi Bajrami aka Waabee, Exaucé Lokebo aka Exo, Viktor Bukovy aka Viktor High Edition, Sung Chun aka Carma and Kevin Claudio. This change in cast is a gesture of memory: returning whacking to those who invented it, as a reminder that whacking was created by racialised gay men. And letting this dance exist through their own bodies.
