Born in the underground clubs of Los Angeles in the 70s among Black, Latinx and Asian queer communities, whacking is far more than a dance, it’s an act of resistance, affirmation and sharing, an explosion of freedom and self-expression. Here, arms strike the air with power, Hollywood diva poses follow one another, and everything plays with music, gaze, attitude… and above all, it celebrates those who dare to be fully themselves.
For this one-off night, UNDER/GROUND teams up with Maintenant Festival and hands carte blanche to W*ack à Rennes, turning the Salle de la Cité into a true temple of groove and flamboyance. Battles, blazing jams, performances and other surprises will set the rhythm for this joyful night!
