Les Ratz

— Collective supported by FAIR-E / CCN de Rennes et de Bretagne

Rooted in Rennes' Streets

Founded more than ten years ago in Rennes, Les Ratz carry breaking as a street heritage, a crew culture, and a space of transmission for future generations.

Les Ratz were formed more than ten years ago in Rennes under the name Crew Stacé, founded by a group of dancers united by a shared passion for breaking and hip hop culture as a whole. The name Les Ratz reflects their trajectory: always in motion, always finding spaces to train, turning the streets and squares of Rennes into dance floors when studios were unavailable. This resilience is part of their identity.

Rooted in the broader spirit of hip hop—DJing, graffiti, skating, and crew culture—Les Ratz have always approached breaking as a collective and open practice rather than a closed discipline. Group spirit, collective challenge, and transmission to younger dancers lie at the heart of their approach.

Over the years, the crew has travelled to Los Angeles, Seoul, and many other cities to take part in battles and immerse themselves in international scenes. These experiences feed an expertise they bring back and share in Rennes. Now the only active breaking crew in the city, Les Ratz offer classes for all levels and organise events that have become key moments for the community, including Vortex Jam, one of the biggest breaking jams in France.
