Workshops

Twelve sessions to learn directly from the artists in the programme, from October 2 to 17, at CCN / St-Melaine and CCN / Garage.

Locking with A-Train, October 3, 10:30 am–12:00 pm (CCN / St-Melaine). Part of Focus Funk, featuring Engrenage[s]. A Swedish dancer active since 2006, A-Train is a leading figure in locking, with a practice grounded in groove, rhythm and technical precision. A winner at the UK B-Boy Championships (2009) and Juste Debout (2012), he now teaches the fundamentals of locking internationally, bringing the rigour of a former competitor to his practice.

Electro with E Wave (Dylan), October 4, 12:30–2:00 pm (CCN / St-Melaine). Dylan Aouizerate discovered Electro dance in 2007 and became one of its leading figures in France. His teaching is grounded in the style’s fundamentals: precise lines, shapes, energy and musicality, rooted in the club culture where it was born.

Shifting Pop with Linda Hayford, October 4, 2:30–4:00 pm (CCN / St-Melaine). A leading figure in popping, Linda Hayford teaches Shifting Pop, a movement protocol she developed from the style’s fundamentals: isolations, anatomical precision and heightened bodily awareness. A member of the FAIR-E collective and co-director of the CCN de Rennes et de Bretagne, she leads this workshop with the same technical rigour that runs through her creations.

Locking with Zid, October 4, 4:30–6:00 pm (CCN / St-Melaine). A member of the FAIR-E collective / CCN de Rennes et de Bretagne, Bouzid Ait Atmane practises and teaches locking from the cypher, where he developed a direct and concrete relationship to movement, shaped by battle vocabulary. Since 2024, he has been artistic director of Battle des écoles, an arts education project that turns competition into a tool for transmission between young dancers.

Whacking / Voguing with Habibitch, October 9, 7:00–8:30 pm (CCN / St-Melaine). Part of Whack to the West, featuring W*ack à Rennes. A Franco-Algerian artist, Habibitch has practised voguing and whacking since the early 2010s, within the House of Mizrahi. They teach these styles by placing them within their history: cultures born in queer and racialised communities, carried through gesture, pose and arm precision.

Whacking with Viktor, October 10, 10:30 am–12:00 pm (CCN / Garage). Part of Whack to the West, featuring W*ack à Rennes. Originally from Slovakia, Viktor Bukový has practised waacking since 2011, his main discipline, which he has deepened through competitions, judging and teaching worldwide. Also active in ballroom, he brings a dual perspective, both technical and cultural, to his workshop.

Whacking with Kevin, October 10, 12:30–2:00 pm (CCN / Garage). Part of Whack to the West, featuring W*ack à Rennes. A German dancer and choreographer trained at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln, Kevin Claudio Ponge Kassoma teaches waacking by anchoring it in its history: a culture born in the queer and racialised communities of 1970s Los Angeles.

Whacking with Panda Waack, October 11, 2:30–4:00 pm (CCN / Garage). Part of Whack to the West, featuring W*ack à Rennes. Born in Hong Kong and based in Barcelona, Lau Sin Yi, known as Panda Waack, has taught and developed waacking since 2015. A Red Bull Dance Your Style Hong Kong 2024 champion, she passes on a technique proven in both competition and performance.

Dancehall with Mwendwa Marchand, October 11, 4:30–6:00 pm (CCN / Garage). Originally from Kenya, Mwendwa Marchand teaches dancehall from its fundamentals: Afro-Caribbean energies, musicality and its distinctive gestural vocabulary, developed through travel and training, including at the Adage centre.

Top Rock with Thias, October 17, 10:00–11:30 am (CCN / St-Melaine). Mathias discovered hip hop at the age of 9 in the street before specialising in top rock, a demanding discipline that prepares breaking dancers for the floor. His musicality and energy are recognised internationally.

House Dance with Nadéeya GK, October 17, 12:00–1:30 pm (CCN / St-Melaine). A Cameroonian-Italian dancer and choreographer, Nadéeya GK teaches house dance from its fundamentals: footwork, musicality and collective trance, as explored through her House Dance | an afrocentric recall.

Vogue Fem with Paris Princess Luna Telfar, October 17, 2:00–3:30 pm (CCN / St-Melaine). Part of The Heaven Kiki Ball, featuring Ballroom Scene Rennes.

European Runway with Paris Godfather Skorpio Juicy Couture, October 17, 4:00–5:30 pm (CCN / St-Melaine). Part of The Heaven Kiki Ball, featuring Ballroom Scene Rennes.

Trainings

Three free practice sessions, either open or guided, all at CCN / Garage. No booking required.

Open training, October 7, 7:30 pm. A space dedicated to spontaneous practice and free exchange: a place to share, challenge yourself, build your foundations independently and learn from one another.

Open training, October 14, 7:30 pm, in CROSSOVER with the Ren’Storming Festival and featuring Primitif. This session focuses on breaking, with a live DJ set.

Guided training, October 16, 7:00 pm, with B-girl Stefani. In CROSSOVER with the Ren’Storming Festival and featuring Primitif.

Practical information

Practice sessions are open access; workshops must be booked and paid for online. Your Carte Sortir! must be shown on site to validate the rate. Bookings are non-refundable.
